Continuing Education
Advancement opportunities in the construction industry are limitless. While some NEW graduates want to be tradeswomen for life, others pursue training in construction management and small business ownership upon completing their apprenticeships in order to take advantage of the myriad leadership opportunities in this field.
New York Building Foundation Career Advancement Fund
NEW is pleased to announce the creation of the New York Building Foundation Career Advancement Fund. This Fund, created through a generous donation from the New York Building Foundation, will provide NEW graduates with small grants to pursue educational opportunities to advance their careers or seed money to start a small business. Graduates who receive a grant will have the opportunity to be matched up with a mentor from the New York Building Congress who will provide guidance and potential networking opportunities.
Through the Fund, NEW will provide grants to cover all or partial cost of technical workshops, management training courses, site safety officer training, continuing education, financial management, or small business workshops. For those graduates who are interested in applying for funding for start-up costs for a women-owned small business, the Fund will cover costs related to office management systems, tools and equipment, marketing, business plan development, licenses and fees, and insurance.
NEW graduates who are interested in applying for a grant should contact Julia Katz, Coordinator of Special Initiatives at 646-257-5097 or jkatz@new-nyc.org.
